Business units combine forces at Future of Mining

For the first time in one booth, four Komatsu business units worked together to highlight the company’s data and technology-focused options at the inaugural Future of Mining Conference in Sydney, AU, May 14-15.

Organized by Aspermont publishing – home to Mining Magazine, Mining Journal and Australia’s Mining Monthly – the conference brought together more than 400 senior mining executives to discuss and debate the current and future mining landscape.

As Platinum and Silver sponsors of the event, we were heavily involved in providing valuable content and leading discussions related to the conference’s goals of: driving growth and innovation in the mining sector; developing data and analytics use across the supply chain; and delivering an end-to-end efficient mine.

Our successful participation was due to the collaborative efforts of Modular, MineWare, Komatsu Mining Corp. and Komatsu Australia, who worked as one team to coordinate presentations, align on booth strategy and share a unified message that Komatsu’s original equipment and technology offerings are here to help move mining >FORWARD.

Presenting at the event were:

  • Michael Rikkola and Trevor Griffiths, Director of Analytics and Smart Solutions Manager, respectively, for KMC. They did a main stage presentation on the democratization of data and how that is shaping a new generation of miners
  • Andrew Jessett, CEO of MineWare, who spoke about driving new value creation in the mining chain through real-time feedback
  • Garry Povah, Deputy General Manager AHS with Komatsu Australia, who presented on our 10 years of commercial success with AHS
  • Jason Knuth, Product Manager of Analytics and Smart Solutions, KMC, who hosted a customer roundtable discussion about “Partnering for the digital mining revolution.”

The teams are already in discussions to participate in the next Future of Mining event in Denver, CO, USA, and the second event to be held in Sydney next March.
